Why you should treat your marketers like athletes

I could reel off thousands of stats about how health, wellbeing and fitness affect an employee’s productivity. I could show you comparisons of those who exercise as part of their working day vs. those who don’t. But what’s the point? We all know that the results will show the active teams, who are exercising regularly and eating well, outperforming the inactive teams*.

The truth is, I don’t really subscribe to this way of thinking. Don’t get me wrong, keeping our people fit and healthy is a key focus for us at Force24, but not because it aids productivity, but because it’s the right thing to do.

And I’m very proud to say that I don’t think we need cheap ploys to increase the productivity of our team. We have a rigorous hiring process that ensures we only appoint self-starters that really know their stuff and operate at a higher level and faster pace than their peers. Our employees are motivated by what’s going on around them, making them agile and strong.

Which is just as well, because we deal with marketers from some pretty big companies. We’re not talking about your run-of-the-mill managers. They head up some of the highest performing marketing teams I know. They’re results driven and thoroughly up-to-date with the latest strategies, techniques and technology. They are streamlined, lean and sharp to ensure they have the edge over their competitors. And they have chosen Force24 as their marketing automation partner. To act as part of their team. Why? Because we match that level of performance.

Our clients are marketing athletes, therefore so are we.

Like athletes, in order to maintain the strength of our team, we focus on 3 key areas:

Pre-game training
When we take on a new recruit, we train them in best practice, ensure they understand in-depth our clients objectives, and help fill any holes in their digital marketing knowledge.

Performance enhancement
We ensure their performance by offering ways to exercise their minds and bodies and fuel them each day with nutritious, healthy food.

Post-game recovery aid
We retain our brilliant people by ensuring that, above all, they enjoy what they do, they are happy, healthy and always striving to achieve more.  In return, like an athlete’s coach, we get loyalty, respect and a share of the success limelight. And nothing makes me prouder every day than watching our employees grow and develop in this ever-changing world of marketing to ensure they never fall from that pedestal.

So, how do you get the very best from your top-performing marketers?

Treat them like athletes, like we do.

This means;

  • Inspiring their minds, driving them to run faster, focus, and achieve more, through investing in training and sharing knowledge.
  • Helping them to remain a dynamic, proactive team by encouraging sport and fitness in and outside of the workplace.
  • Providing nutritious food to fuel their bodies and minds, maintaining energy levels.

Trust me, you’ll reap the rewards.

*If you can’t take my word for it, VirginHealth’s research shows that exercise improves staff productivity by 12.5%.
